Tip 27 – 28 Days of Reducing Distractions

Tip 27 – Set time limits.

It isn’t fair to turn off all distractions (to you or the distractors).  Set time limits on how long you work, how long you workout, how long you talk on the phone, how long you sleep or how long you do anything.  Variety is good!

Tips 25 & 26 – 28 Days of Reducing Distractions

Tip 25 – Create a separate email account for newsletters and receipts.

Don’t clutter up your inbox with emails you want to read later.  Keep one inbox for action items and one inbox for “things to read later” .  The “to read later” emails won’t distract you when you’re trying to get some real work done.

Tip 26 – Carve out a time to read those emails

My friend Maria wakes up early every Saturday morning and while everyone else is still sleeping, she reads her favorite blogs and any fun emails she’s been saving all week.  What a wonderful way to start the weekend.

Tip 23 – 28 Days of Reducing Distractions

Tip 23 – Plan to leave 15 minutes early

can't find my keys

I think she is looking for her keys

Here’s the scene – it’s time to go in five minutes but you still check email one last time, let the dog out, can’t find your phone.  If you plan to leave 15 minutes before the time you really need to leave, you’ll have time for any last minute distractions.

Happy Friday Everyone!

Tip 22 – 28 Days of Reducing Distractions

Tip 22 – Brain Dump

Calvin - brain dump

Have you experienced your head spinning with ideas and things to do.  Try a brain dump and get them out of your head and onto paper.  It will clear your mind and allow you to concentrate on the task at hand.
