Laundry Tips – Part 2 – Make it inconvenient

Happy Wednesday,

Today’s laundry tip –  Sort and fold in an inconvenient place.

Comments that I hear all the time is that people get distracted and forget they are doing laundry.  Next thing they know, it is late in the day and only one load has been washed, nothing has been dried and the mounds of laundry are still staring at you….waiting to be washed.  Try this instead:

If you sort your dirty laundry into loads, make it someplace that requires you to walk over them or around them.  Put it in your kitchen, your bathroom, the hall.  Better yet, put them all out in the open before company is planned to come over.

Next – place your folded laundry someplace equally as inconvenient.  Ideas are – your kitchen counter, the couch, your dining room table, even your bed.

Here’s the trick and where the discipline needs to kick in.

The purpose of putting your loads and piles in an inconvenient place is to force you to deal with them.  If you have dirty loads on the kitchen floor before company is coming for dinner…don’t move them to a bedroom – deal with the loads.  If you put folded piles on the dining room table and now it is dinner time…don’t move them to the couch or better yet – eat dinner on the couch – – put the piles away before you sit down for dinner.

By putting laundry someplace that will remind you that you are doing laundry – will in fact remind you that you are doing laundry that day and the incentive to get them out-of-the-way will help you get the job done!

Keep going strong – – seven more tips still to come (I added one more).

I am loving the comments – keep them coming.
